- Who's that baby? When he can lift his head while lying on his stomach, put a mirror safely in front of his face. He loves looking at faces!
- Help your baby s-t-r-e-t-c-h by putting a toy or
another safe, interesting object just out of reach so she can try
to grab it. Make sure it's not too far away. You want her to be
successful.
- Can your baby sit up by himself? Then he will probably
enjoy filling and emptying containers. Supervise him in the bathtub
as he pours water in and out of plastic measuring cups, or move
the game to dry land and give him a box or a plastic bucket to fill
and empty with blocks or toys over and over again.
- When your baby can crawl, make a pillow "mountain"
for her to climb as you supervise. If she's hesitant, put a favorite
toy at the top for her to reach.
- Stacking toys are a favorite of many babies as
they approach their first birthday. Let him learn at his own pace,
starting with the skill of taking rings off a stacking tube and
putting them on in any order. Make your own toy with a paper towel
tube and mason jar rings.
